Scrapyard Fire In The Port Of Providence

On Sunday Around 05:00am Engine 13 Was Dispatched To Fields Point Drive In The Port of Providence On An Investigation Of Smoke In The Area. Engine 13 Notified Fire Alarm They Were On Scene At Metals Recycling With A Deep Seated Fire In A large Pile Of Scrapped Car Parts Or Fluff. Engine 13 Requested An Additional Engine For A water Supply Fire Alarm Dispatched Engine 10, Ladder 5 And Battalion 2. On Arrival Of Chief O'Reilly Tower 1 Was Special Called, As Engine 13 Continued With A Foam Operation. Tower 1 Arrived And Began To Flow Water Onto The Pile. Eventually Engine 9 Was Special Called To Pump The Hydrant Lines. One Ladder Pipe And The Deck Gun Off Engine 10 Was Put To Work To Extinguish The Fire. Crews Used A Large Front End Loader To Move Train Cars From The front Of The Pile To Gain Access. Companies Remained On scene Into The Day Flowing Water Onto The Pile Of Debris.
