Providence Second Alarm Vacant Dwelling Fire

At 02:44 Providence Engines 12,7,2 Ladders 3,4 Hazards & Battalion 3 responded to Smith Street At Esten for a reported building fire. Multiple calls were received in fire alarm and at 02:46 the fill in companies Engine 15 (Safety Company), Tower Ladder 1 (Fast Company), Rescue 5, Engine 5, & Air Supply were dispatched. Engine 12 arrived first due at 02:46 and reported a 2.5 story vacant dwelling fully involved, Battalion 3 arrived and transmitted a second alarm with heavy overlapping fire venting from all sides threatening two 2.5 story exposure buildings on sides three &four, Engines 3,14 Ladder 7, & Division 1 were dispatched on the second alarm at 02:49. Multiple hand lines and two elevated large stream appliances from Ladder 4, & Tower Ladder 1 were put into operation as fire ground operations remained exterior or defensive. Heavy Fire Burned throughout the building for about a hour while crews flowed water from all sides, after knocking down the heavy fire condition companies went interior to begin searches, Check for extension and overhaul, one firefighter was transported with unknown injuries, The fire is still under investigation.
