Third Alarm For Building Explosion In Woodlawn

At 10:10 On Tuesday Morning Pawtucket Fire Alarm Dispatched Engine's 5,2,1 Ladder 1 And Battalion 1 To 422 Mineral Spring Avenue For Numerous Reports Of A Building Explosion With A Fire. Due To Car Two Reporting Heavy Smoke In The Distance The Second & Third Alarms Were Struck With Engine's 3,4,6 Ladder 2 & Rescue's 1 & 2 Being Dispatched Prior To Arrival. Debris Littered The Area As Lieutenant Maher Arrived With Ladder One Reporting Heavy Fire Showing From A Three Decker Also Reporting A Major Structural Collapse And Live Wires Down. Firefighters Attempted To Make Entry Via The Rear Stairwell To Conduct Searches However Were Evacuated Shortly Thereafter Due To Conditions. North Providence Ladder 1 And North Providence Battalion 1 Filled Out The Third Alarm As Exterior Lines Were Established To Protect Exposures. A Civilian And Off Duty Providence Firefighter Removed The Occupants From The Third Floor Prior To Arrival, A Male Patient Was Transported With Severe Burns To RI Trauma Center By Rescue One And A Infant Was Transported To Hasbro Children's Hospital By Rescue Two, A Cumberland Rescue Was Special Called To Stand By At The Scene. Ladder's One & Two Setup The Ladder Pipes As Engine Five Flowed Water From Their Deck Gun And Big Lines Were Stretched From Engine's Two & Four Which Kept The Fire Contained To The Building Of Origin In About A Hour. Residents From The St. Germain Manor Were Evacuated From Their Apartments And Assembled In The Community Room During The Event, No Additional Injuries Were Reported. The Building Was A Total Loss And Required Mineral Spring Avenue, A Major Roadway In The City To Be Closed Into The Following Days When The Building Was Demolished. The Incident Is Under Investigation By The Pawtucket Fire Prevention Office, Pawtucket Police Major Crimes Unit And RI State Fire Marshals Office, National Grid Responded And Could Not Find Any Leaks In The Area Surrounding The Building. Ladder One Cleared The Scene At 15:30 and The Recall Was Sounded.
