Heavy Fire Damages Occupied Dwelling

At 17:09 on a rainy Sunday evening Pawtucket Fire Alarm dispatched Engine's 3,2,6 Ladder 2 & Battalion 2 to 22-24 Brewster Street between Division & Meadow Streets for multiple calls reporting a house fire. As crews responded police arrived and reported a "fully involved structure" moments later engine three made the right off Pond Street and reported a code red with heavy smoke showing, Engine 4, Ladder 1 & Rescue 2 responded and filled out the assignment. Heavy fire conditions self vented from side four on floor one. Firefighters used a line to knock down the extending exterior fire as another hand line was stretched in by members of engine two via side one. Interior crews reported a heavily involved basement fire which began venting from the window at the 1/2 corner. Firefighters made quick work, having the majority of the fire knocked down within twenty minutes leaving an extensive overhaul operation that lasted till around 20:21 when ladder two cleared the scene and the recall was sounded. The structure was heavily damaged an several occupants were displaced. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by Pawtucket Fire Prevention & the State Fire Marshals office, the Providence Canteen also responded to provide rehab.
